Rest & Planning

Oh, what a month. Chandra and I were able to celebrate completing the 200th prompt from "Write the Story" in our 12 hour stream. This was also to celebrate Chandra's completion of school!

After the livestream, it has been 3 weeks of zero livestreams. I still am doing my public domain narration, but not near as speedy as I was.

Now, in the this down time Chandra and I have been able to plan the next chapter of Flash Fiction Live. We will still air FFL alternating each Saturday on our YT channels, but we'll have an editing element as well as a "random prompt." That will be the second half of this Flash Fiction Hurricane.

We want to help everyone find inspiration for their writing anywhere and everywhere, so our random prompts will start to make sense as you join us.

"He separated the battling aunts, ensured the enjoyed-being-singles weren’t at the table with the ready-to-settle-down-singles."

Reaching Goals!!!

Well, firstly, I just noticed my November newsletter had place holders for numbers that I never filled. Whoops.

But the main purpose for this column was to explain how after completing the 200th prompt in "Write the Story," I was sitting at 247 drafted flash fictions since starting 26 September 2021.

I like round numbers, so I needed 3 more flashes to make it 250.

What luck, because Critique Group Live is doing another writing contest.

Since I wasn't a judge this round, I wrote three flashes based of each of their prompts. Now to chose one to submit...

That gives me 250 completed flash fictions in one year and two months (since I finished by 26 December).

If you want a chance to enter, below is the link to the prompts, rules, and submission.

12 Hours of Fun

Flash Fiction February 12-Hour Livestream CMA
I will say, I'm starting to like 12 hour livestreams. Especially with all our friends jumping on.

I almost think we need an entire words on stream livestream, because that is soooo much fun.

We were able to not only knock out the final three flashes but also play a few fun games.

The first game was throughout the stream, we made a bingo card.

I already mentioned words on stream that aired between each segment.

But the funniest game is one I expect will be played across authrotube: Fortunately/ Unfortunately. Each sentence alternates between those words. Start watching at the 10 hour mark if you want to see it for yourself.

4 Writer's Sake!

I wish I could cite my sources, but I am a tad lazy and don't want to look them up.

In summary, people who are learning a new skill find greater results if they rest/meditate versus practicing it constantly.

I believe the same could be said for writing.

While I've been spending with family, reading (or audio booking) I've been able to reflect on my own writing a lot. There are things I want to be better at, skills I've already improved upon since I started.

The key I've found is recognizing growth as well as areas of improvement.

2023 will hold even more growth and I am glad my family (husband/kids, plus the chosen author family) is with me.

Cheers to the new year and the growth each of us will have.
