September 2022

'ello reader !

The End is Nigh...

It has been a full year of me writing and tracking my flash fictions (as of 26 September 2021).

I have completed 213 flashes by that year mark, with 13 of those flashes written in September 2022 alone. Currently, in the "Write the Story" book, I've finished through prompt 177.

At this pace, the 200th prompt will be written on 10 December. Mark you calendars now!

"If you ever read one of my works of fiction and wondered, what was this author thinking? I freely admit to you now: I wasn’t. The better questions is, what was this author wishing?"

- Natalie Locke, "Be Careful What you Wish for" Episode 175 Twitch Stream - 18 September.

Submitting Flashes

Well, if you've ever wondered what I do for fun along with all the flashes I write, I find competitions to submit flashes to.

This month I sent pieces to my two favorite websites: 4 micro-fictions to Fractured Lit and I participated in a Rhyming Story challenge through NYC Midnight.

The micro-fictions for Fractured Lit were heavily edited previous flashes I've written from "Write the Story" and NYC Midnight was under the prompt (genre, theme, & emotion) provided to me.

Heather (craft blend) invited me to be on her stream 17 September as part of the "Cookie Civil War Writeathon" Weekend.

Plenty of videos and writing time, not to mention laughs, for anyone who enjoys watching livestreams after they've aired.
Link to the Writeathon Playlist, to include fabulous cookie polls in each stream.

Finding My Voice

Over time I've learned there is character voice, narrator voice, and even author voice (though I'd argue this is more the authors style).

I disclosed on Flash Fiction Live that aired 17 September, on Chandra's Channel, that I do voices while reading to my son. As I imitated these voices, Chandra, along with chat, suggested I start recording myself reading public domain stories the way I would read them to my son.

Enjoy or avoid! :P
