November 2022

'ello reader !

On the mends...

Well, it turns out I had Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) since 11 October. It took just over three weeks before I finally had a migraine that increased every time my head moved (standing, talking, turning, etc.).

I got my antibiotics and have been feeling much better.

This has given me a second wind and allowed me to part take with all my friends who have increased their productivity streams for NaNoWriMo.

I achieved my goal to record enough Grimms' Fairly Tales so I can maybe actually take a break from YT for a few weeks after the 12 hour livestream on 10 December.

Now, I expect I'll feel a drop in energy after all the food binding kicks in. Pass me the Queen Anne's Chocolate Covered Cherries, please.

Finding Creativity

Well, believe it or not, after writing over XXX flashes as of the end of November (including flashes outside "Write the Story"), I still search for inspiration for creativity.

The places I always try to read or consume story ideas from (maybe not at that moment but it will be subconsciously latched to me) are the following:
  • reddit stories
  • news (already 3-5 mins)
  • story time on TikTok/YT/IG
  • songs
  • people watch
Now, I'll share how I get revitalized passion for my stories.
  • alpha readers' feedback
  • making mock covers
  • character/book collages using open source pictures or AI created art
  • talk the story out with a friend.
How do you spark or reignite your passion for your writing? I know many writers who do well to not touch their work for a time, then finally blow the dust off it and immerse themselves in a world they forgot.

Friend Highlights

As I said, with NaNoWriMo many of my friends (some with the goal of writing 50K words by November's end) are hosting livestreams that coincide with my days off work.

Because they helped me be productive and get ahead, I wanted to share their channels for anyone else looking for streams (even outside the November).

Above are pictures of their lovely faces, and below are links to their YouTube Channels. (channel links top to bottom correspond to the picture left to write). Show them as much love as they put out into the world if you need sprints to drive you to be productive.
Also, if you're in search for Livestreams, here is a sheet that is used until our friend, Devin Cutting, gets his YT account again.

Writing with EI

First off, I'm not a certified to help anyone, but like any writer, I've read a lot of books, to include on Emotional Intelligence (EI).

EI, according to a quick "define" google is "the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically."

High EI allows us to understand, not necessarily agree, with an opposing viewpoint.

In increasing my EI, I have helped my own.... discussions with my husband, I feel it is also helping my writing. I can do this:

  • replay past conversations with new endings
  • think of my own faults and filters have
  • consider the other person's logic and filters of their opinion
I have enjoyed being able to take a birds-eye view in crafting each characters' goals, opinions, and logic. By applying the replay options of my own conversations, it has allowed me to explore the fictional realm of disagreements.
